As per your question according to the data CSE has better placement than Civil because in CSE branch,

all kinds of school , private or government, has better placement record.

But if we mention CE then only good private and government college has placement record of 70%.

You can't do MSc in geology after completion of BTech in civil engineering because both the fileds are different and if you've applied for a MSc geology then your application will be getting rejected as the qualifications degree is bsc geology or applied geology . So in that case you

Yes, diploma is equivalent to 12th and a bit more than that. So there are no drawbacks. just that you spend a year more completing the diploma (10+3)
