It may be difficult for you to take admission in this college in civil engineering as the cutoff of last year was around 11226 (Opening) and 28447 (Closing). So based on the last years data, even if cutoff increases, it may not increase upto 40000.

For other branches

HEP B.A. course deals with history, economics and political science which are very good subjects for studying civil services., but I say studying only these subjects is not important for civil services as civil services deal with every aspect of the country.

Both are really good colleges but the overall ratings for IIEST shibpur is better compared to NIT calicut ,the fees for IIEST is INR 1.60 lakhs for 4 years but for NIT calicut it is INR 5.30 lakh for 4 years,Nit calicut has better infrastructure and facilities compared
