At 90 degree celsius the vapour density of N2O4 is 24.8(H=1).calculate the degree of dissociation at this temperature.

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 12th Aug, 2019

Dear Pawan,

N2O4 ---------NO2.

Initially N2O4 has conc.= 1, then at equilibrium N2O4 has conc.1-X.

And NO2 has conc. =2x

 initially we have taken N2O4 =1

Molar mass =92 .V.D at eq.=24.8 M.w.=60.

n initial/ n final =M final/M initial

1/1-X+2X=60/92

1/1+X=60/92

1+X=92/60

X=92/60 -1

X=32/60

X=0.53

percentage dissociation=0.53 X

Which of the four resistance p= 2ohm, Q=4ohm, R=1ohm, s=2ohm, generate the greatest amount of heat when a current flows from A to B?

kartikjain2548 Student Expert 10th Aug, 2019

Hello,

In this question two cases can be made-

  • If the resistors are in series then by formula H=I×I×R the resistor with highest resistance will produce the highest amount of heat. We use this formula because current is for each resistor but voltage is not. So Q will produce highest

The resistance of a wire is 5 ohm at 50c and 6 ohm at 100c. The resistance of the wire at 0c will be

Tanzil Mahmood 10th Aug, 2019

Hi Rahul,

R = R0(1+α(T - T0)

5 = R0(1+α(50) ...(i)

And

6 = R0(1+α(100).....(ii)

Dividing (i) & (ii),

α = 1/200

So,  R0 = 4 Ω

So, the Resistance of the wire at 0°C is 4 Ω

Hope it helps!!

Good Luck..!!
