A student can appear twice for the SCB exam, once in the year of completing the 12th grade and second time in year following that.
However there are other ways as well to take admission in IISERs. You can appear for KVPY (if you fulfill the eligibility criteria) and if you are able clear it, you have eligible to apply for IISERs.

I would like to say that you are eligible for admission, but that's just about it.
Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through following three channels.
Needless to say, you need to score very hig marks to get into IISER
AS per official website, candidates securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to apply.

1. NEET - this is national level entrance exam for graduate medical , dental or postgraduate course
2. AIIMS entrance exam - this is entrance exam of AIIMS college for the admission of same
3. AFMC - armed forces medical college this is to get liability to serve as commissioned officiers in the armed forcces medical services
4. BHU - PMT - this is conducted by banaras hindu university itself for the admission in various medical courses
5. JIPMER - jawaharlal institute of post graduate medical education and research conducts this for the admission in MBBS
6. DUMET -delhi university medical/dental entrance test

There are no government colleges that accept direct boards scores for admission into Btech engineering courses. You need JEE or CET or other such entrance examinations score only to apply. But yes through the management quota, you can get admission into some of the engineering colleges like -

Scoring above 95 in 12th boards is fairly staright forward. Since you haven't mentioned which stream you have taken, I will give a general answer. There is a very simple trick to acing board exams- be thorough with the NCERT. Many students actually spend a lot of time studying different reference books, which not only diverts attention, but also wastes time. However, once you are thorough with the NCERT, reference books are a good next step. Solving past year papers a month before can really help in consolidating your preparation.
