For CAT preparations you need to start completely with basics in all the 3 sections quantitative, verbal and DI-LR. Having a strong hold on basics is very necessary because this CAT exam is all depends on your speed with accuracy. Without strong basics you won't be able to attain speed

Just for some info, No college in India guarantees placement, not even IIM's. It's just that students develop their abilities enough to get placed well.

Analyze your Aimcats. Identify areas of strength and weakness. Try to see how the top scorers(your friends) around you approach the same questions. Discuss with them your approach and their approach and find the difference. Practice your weak areas more and you will be able to improve.
