As long as you can justify your gap with valid reasons, it should not be a problem. But it would be an advice not to disclose that you spent time only for cat preparation. On the flip side, do not lie, you will be easily caught.Try explaining in the interview

To get a call from IIT-M you need to score at least 98%ile+ in CAT to be on a safer side although a score around 94-95%ile may get you a call but the chances are less.
