It is true that the UGC has , till now, planned to conduct a common entrance test fo r all central universities like BHU, Central universities, DU,AMU etc for all ?UG courses however no such official notification has com eout for the PG courses yet. As of now, for
NIT Trichy has 45 seats in open/general category.
Some students every year are not able/willing to join NIT Trichy due to their respective reasons or some of them are not from Open Category.

Yes you can change your course during counselling session. Counselling is done for this purpose also. After counselling it will be difficult to change the course. But it also depends on that seats should be available for the course you changed because you had applied for different course.

Firstly, the CETs are difficult. They wont be as easy as yourregular 12th board exam but they can be made easy with proper preparation(studying the right topics, time table, focus and habit of solving question papers).
