With the score you're mentioning you can expect his rank to lie between 5200-6500. If he belongs to general category then I'm afraid chances are really less that he'll get an NLU. But you can definitely check out some other good private colleges like

Considering the fact that this year the paper was easy and also considering the fact that you are from a reserved category your rank may be in the range of 5000-6000. It is difficult to get into NLU with this rank, however keep watching the vacant seats

There is reservation for OBC candidates in many nlus but you can apply qouta only in the state you live in.
Still your marks are not good enough to get nlu despite your category reservation.
