According to the information available, both the branches are same. However, the college management name it diffrently, some colleges say it as " ECE : Electronics and communication engineering" whereas some call it as " ECM : Electronics and computer engineering"
This field is a branch of Electronics Engineering which deals with the effects of electrons to build components, devices, systems, or equipment such as mobile phones etc.

Generally,y the IT sector is growing day by day so does the chances of growth are very high if you are in computer sector. See, the growth is quite good along with the placements.

The eligibility criteria to get admission to Diploma in Computer Science Engineering that a candidate must have passed class 10th with Mathematics and Science from a recognized board. If you wish to take admission to the course of BE Computer Engineering, then you can apply through the lateral entry examination as you have completed your diploma in Mechanical engineering. The lateral entry examination, will directly provide you admission to the 2nd year of BE Computer Engineering.
Now if you wish take admission in the 1st year of the course, then you have to apply through the state level joint or the entrance required for your desired college but you need to have your 10+2 marks and based on the performance of the entrance you will be selected for the course. Thus there will be no involvement of the Diploma you have completed.
