I got 96.1 percentile in jee mains And less than 5000 rank in kcet iam obc 2A can I get cs in pes university

Suganya M 28th Apr, 2025

When it comes to admission to Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at PES University , the candidate's rank in KCET and JEE Mains , as well as their category, play significant roles in determining whether they can secure a seat.

Here’s an analysis of your situation:

  1. KCET Rank:
With a rank of less than 5000 in KCET , you stand a reasonable chance of securing a seat in PES University for CSE. PES University is known to have a competitive admission process, and the cutoff for CSE generally varies each year depending on the number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam. Based on your rank, you are likely to be in the consideration range for the CSE course under OBC 2A category . However, the cutoff may also depend on the specific preferences of candidates applying that year.

  2. JEE Mains Percentile:
Your 96.1 percentile in JEE Mains is a strong score and demonstrates a solid academic foundation. Although JEE Mains scores are used for admissions through the COMEDK exam, it can still help in securing a seat in some universities like PES University if they also consider JEE scores for admissions, or for bypassing certain rounds of selection. PES University often considers multiple admission channels , including KCET and COMEDK , and in some cases, JEE Mains scores may be accepted for courses like CSE.

  3. OBC 2A Category:
Being in the OBC 2A category increases your chances of securing a seat in PES University, as the university offers reservation for OBC candidates. This category generally has a relatively higher cutoff compared to General category students, but it still depends on your rank and the number of applicants from that category.

Conclusion:
Based on your KCET rank and JEE Mains percentile , you have a good chance of getting admission to CSE at PES University . However, it is advisable to monitor the official cutoff trends and stay updated on the admission notifications. Make sure to apply through both KCET and COMEDK (if applicable) for better chances.

Note: It’s important to stay updated on PES University’s official site and any notifications regarding the admission process.

I got 96.1 percentile in jee mains And less than 5000 rank in kcet iam obc 2A can I get cs in pes university

SUKRITI GUPTA 19th Apr, 2025

With a 96.1 percentile in JEE Mains and a rank less than 5000 in KCET under the OBC 2A category, your chances of securing a Computer Science (CS) seat at PES University are quite strong, primarily through your KCET rank.

PES University admits students through both JEE Main and KCET. 1 Given your excellent KCET rank (less than 5000) and belonging to the OBC 2A category, you have a significant advantage for admission through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test.

Looking at the previous year's KCET cutoff ranks for PES University can give us a clearer picture. In 2024, the last round closing rank for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at PES University for the General Merit category was around 1205. While specific OBC 2A category ranks for 2024 aren't readily available in a single consolidated list, the general trend indicates that OBC category cutoffs are usually within a reasonable range of the general merit ranks, often slightly higher. Your rank being well within 5000 significantly increases your probability of getting a CSE seat.

For the 2023 KCET cutoffs for PES University, the closing rank for CSE under the OBC category was around 7937. Your rank is much better than this, suggesting a high likelihood of admission. Keep in mind that cutoffs can fluctuate slightly each year.

To solidify your admission, ensure you participate actively in the KCET counselling process conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). During counselling, prioritize PES University and the Computer Science branch. Your impressive KCET rank in the OBC 2A category makes you a strong contender for a CSE seat at PES University.

For KCET appeared 3,12000 students, dont know the difficulty of the test papers.. But my PCM board marks 273/300 and expecting marks 79/180.. Would like to know the KCET ranking anf best engineering colleges for CS course please..

Prachi Kumari 18th Apr, 2025

Hello,

With 273/300 in boards and 79/180 in KCET, your KCET rank may be around 6,000 to 12,000 (approx).
This is just a rough guess because final rank depends on normalization and paper difficulty .  It is better to use KCET Rank Calculator Tool to predict your rank based on your scores.

You can get CS/IT in these good colleges:

  1. Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering

  2. BNMIT, Bangalore

  3. Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology

  4. Sir MVIT

  5. RNS Institute of Technology (may get ISE)

  6. JSSATE, Bangalore

  7. Siddaganga Institute, Tumkur

  8. New Horizon College of Engineering

  9. Acharya Institute of Technology

If your rank goes below 8,000, you can even try CSE/ISE in better branches in some of these.

Hope it helps !

To get in VJTI CS what is the expected percentile in CET??

Rajeswari Dey 2nd May, 2025

Hi aspirant,

  1. To gain admission to Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) for Computer Science (CS) via the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET), you should aim for a high percentile.
  2. Based on past year's cutoff trends, particularly in the General Category (GOPENS), VJTI's closing percentile for Computer Engineering has regularly been in the high 99s.
  3. Admissions in 2025 may vary depending on the number of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam, and the number of available seats.
  4. Other categories, such as OBC, SC, ST, and EWS, have lower cutoffs but are still quite competitive, with most categories for Computer Science and Information Technology streams scoring above the 95th percentile.

All the best!

Mujhe cs ,it, al, ye branch chahiye mujhe jee me 74.82 percentile he to mujhe mumbai ka konsa college milenga

kumardurgesh1802 13th Apr, 2025

Hello there,

With a 74.82 percentile in JEE Main , getting CS , IT , or AI in top Mumbai colleges might be challenging. However, here are some options:

1. University of Mumbai Colleges :

  • VJTI : Highly competitive for top branches, but possible for others.

  • SVKM NMIMS (private): May accept JEE Main scores.

  • DJ Sanghvi : Competitive for CS/IT, but possible for other branches.

    2. Private Colleges :

  • L&T Institute of Technology and KJ Somaiya : They accept JEE Main scores but competition is high.

    3. Other Considerations :

  • MHT CET : As you're from Maharashtra, applying for MHT CET can improve your chances in top colleges.

  • Management Quota : Some private colleges may have lower entry requirements through this route.

You may also consider related branches like Electronics to increase your chances.

i failed in maths class 12 will i have any problem in Company Secretary ( CS) exam

kumardurgesh1802 13th Apr, 2025

Hello student,

Failing in Class 12 mathematics will not directly impact your eligibility or ability to pursue the Company Secretary (CS) course. The CS course, offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), does not require you to have a specific background in mathematics.

The CS exams primarily focus on subjects like law, corporate governance, business ethics, and other business-related topics. Mathematics is not a mandatory subject in the curriculum, so your failure in Class 12 maths should not pose any problem for your CS journey.

You will still need to complete the foundation, executive, and professional levels of the CS course to become a qualified Company Secretary.
