Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 30th May, 2021

hi,

see cutoff score varies every year and it depends on certain factors like number of applicants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix for any particular stream, candidate category etc. based on previous years cutoff and considering you as  general category,  you have no chances in iit delhi for construction management. do mention you gate score so that we may look for other institute cutoff .

I have done my graduation in Civil Engineering and after that MBA in Construction Management from RICS. I have Gate score of 500 and rank AIR 593 in AR discipline. I am looking for short-duration programs after MBA. Any suggestions?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 4th Apr, 2021

hello,

Actually gate score is mostly evaluated for admission to m.tech, mba or integrated phd, study in abroad for Master of science program , recruitment in public sector hiring etc. however for short duration courses you may not find very much priority or benefits based on gate score. now  after mba you may join for skill based training program in private coaching center or online program, however there is less chances for admission based on gate score.

what should I do? Construction management or Structure engineer?for M.Tech

darshita 2nd Feb, 2021

Hello,

Construction management

Construction management is a promising career with growing job opportunities. Construction management is a professional service that provides a project's owner(s) with effective management of the project's schedule, cost, quality, safety, scope, and function. Construction management is compatible with all project delivery methods.

  • Construction Manager who has working experience of more than 3 lakh can earn around INR 7 lakh per annum.
  • Salary will depend on the skills and company you are hired in.

structure Engineer

Structural engineering is a sub-discipline of civil engineering in which structural engineers are trained to design the 'bones and muscles' that create the form and shape of man-made structures.

  • In general, structural engineers charge somewhere between $100 and $150 per hour for their services. The first hour may be even more expensive than that, depending on the case.
  • The average salary for a Structural Engineer in India is 492186

These career choices don't work in India and do not have most scope.

But comparing these jobs and th salary structure Engineering pays more.

Hope this helps!!!

I want to know what is the difference between the Infrastructure Engineering management and construction management branch for the M.tech .

Gaurav Kumar 26th Dec, 2020

hello,

The major difference between Infrastructure management and construction management is that, Infrastructure management has got a bigger aspect of covering Design, construction, operations, finances etc. of a wider project. It involves a lot of stakeholders from various fields such as Legal, financial, environmental, construction, government etc.Majority of Infrastructure projects in India are done on PPP(public private partnership) model.

While construction management is dedicated to construction part of a project. It has limited application with the construction part of the project.

In Infrastructure project mostly government is involved as it covers a wider public as beneficiary, while construction management projects are mostly carried by civil contractors.

Example: In a highway construction project, Earning, procurement, Design, building, Finances,SPV(special purpose vehicle) such as tolls etc. will come under umbrella of Infrastructure management.

While construction of highway after all planning, finances and legal formalities by a Pvt. or govt. civil contractor will come under construction management that includes scheduling of construction, resource levelling, time cost trade-off etc.

hope this will help you

all the best!!

What is the procedure to get admission in Mtech courses to be precise in Structural engineering and Construction management. I Have completed by Btech in sep 2020 with 7.70 CGPA . Can any one guide me, As I have missed one chance because I was really unaware about its procedure.

Sharon Rose Student Expert 15th Dec, 2020

Hello,

To get seat in M.tech your must appear for entrance exam and qualify in it. There are national level, state level and university level entrance exams like GATE, BITS HD, TS PGECET, AP PGECET, Karnataka PGECET etc. Depending on the college you are interested in, you need to appear for entrance exam. This is if you want to get admission through entrance exam. You can check the list of entrance exams for M.Tech in India using the link below

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/what-are-m-tech-entrance-exams-except-gate

You need to qualify in the exam but first you need to check if the M.Tech Structural Engineering course is offered in the college that you are interested in. If you qualify you need to participate in counselling, the counselling process vary depending on the exam/institute so you should check the details before applying. You will be allotted a seat based on your rank, category and preference. If you are satisfied with the allotment you can join in the college if not you can participate in further rounds if any depending on the rules of the counselling process.
