how much rank is needed in jee mains to get cs or ece in govt. college?? mine was 78.34 percentile

ayanmukherjee045 29th Jun, 2021

Dear aspirant,

As you have mentioned that you have got 78.34 percentile in jee mains and you are wanting to take up cs or ece in government college( NiTs/gfti's), so let me tell you in this percentile your rank would be somewhat around 2L-2.2L as per my knowledge. But it may various depending upon certain conditions such as:-

1-Number of candidates appearing in the examination.

2-Number of vacant seats in college.

3-Previous years cut offs.

4-Difficulty level of the paper

So , if I consider your predicted rank and you are from general category then it is impossible for you to get cse branch. For cse ,you need to score atleast 98.5+ to get into a good nit or gfti.

mere wbjee me 9561 rank aya h general category other state se kya mujhe isme government college or cs branch mil sakti hai.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 8th Aug, 2021

Hi

Other  state students are not eligible for government aided colleges in wbjee

This is very difficult to predict which college you will get because cut off  keeps changing every year depending upon a number of factors like

--------) number of students that appeared in the WBJEE exam

--------)difficulty level of the WBJEE examination

--------)Kind of marks obtained by the students in the WBJEE exam

--------) number of students from different categories etc

But yes,

With your 9561  rank , considering your category as general category

On the basis of analysis of past years wbjee cut off data , you have chances in following college for computer science-

  • Asansol Engineering College

  • Modern Institute of Engineering and Technology

  • Hooghly Engineering and Technology College

And a few more

As per past year cut off available at Official website :- https://admissions.nic.in/wbjeebcouns2019/wbjeebcouns2019/orcr/PrevYearORCR.aspx

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our WBJEE college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your , your gender etc the link for  WBJEE  college predictor is provided below

Hello dear sir,

Last year in 2020, the closing rank for NIT Calicut Computer Science and Engineering branch was 3,682 in JOSAA 6th or say final round counselling.

Check the detailed cutoff of NIT Calicut by visiting the link below.

Now,

Careers360 rank predictor suggests that your rank on this percentile will be around 37000 .

You can check your expected rank by using our rank predictor tool.

The link is mentioned below.

On this rank considering you a general candidate, Unfortunately, you will have no chance of getting CSE in NIT Calicut.

lower branch-like(EE, mechanical, aerospace) in top IIT or top branch like(CS,IT,ECE) in DTU,NSUT,NIT. Which is better?

Purbayan Chatterjee 7th Aug, 2021

Hey Vivek,

Let me clear this dilemma first...

No branches can be attributed to as lower or top. If you're considering branches based on placements, then maybe due to the digital revolution and technological advancements that the world is undergoing, CSE at an average  provides the best (in terms of compensation) but that doesn't de-value other branches as each has their own needs and importance.

Now, coming to your question, it would be my sincere advice to pursue the branch which excites /motivates you rather than going for branches that offer high salaried jobs because any branch you take, ultimately, it will be your skills and expertise that you develop throughout the years that will decide your compensation.

Now coming to the real-world scenario, if you pursue any branch from the top IITs and work decently well over the 4 years of your engineering, you'll certainly bag best of the jobs available.

So will be the case with institutes like DTU / NSUT / NITs, i.e. if you take CSE, IT or ECE from these institutes, you'll get the best of the jobs.

Therefore, my advice will be to retrospect and understand your calling and based on that make your decision.

P.S. Had your question been CSE / IT / ECE from tier-2 / tier-3 colleges or EE / Mechanical / Aerospace from tier-1 college,  my answer would have been the later i.e. always go for a good tier college unless you're really fond of a particular branch.

Hope this helps.

I scored 154/240 in met 2021 phase 2 which branch will i get in main campus ? can i get cs branch?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 28th Jun, 2021

Hello,

The estimates rank with the given score is expected to be in between 7000-12000. The actual rank may vary because the rank rank depends on various factors such as total number of candidates appeared, tie breakers, normalized marks, highest score, etc. You have to wait until the rank list is published to know the actual rank.

Considering the previous year cut off you have chances of getting seat in the following colleges if you secure a rank in between the estimated rank

  • MIT, Manipal: Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering
  • SMIT, Sikkim: Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication
  • MU, Jaipur: Computer & Communication, Data Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics

To check the previous year cut off click on the link below

Cut off changes every year depending on the total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc.

WHICH IS BETTER BE/B.TECH CS OR B.SC CS..?

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 28th Jun, 2021

Hi Aspirant!

BSc Computer science is a 3 years undergraduate course and B.Tech CSE is 4 years undergraduate course (Engineering degree).  BSc CS focuses on about computer application but won't focus much on coding.  On the other hand B.Tech will entirely focus on the hands-on practicing of coding language as well as in-depth knowledge about computer applications.

Scope of these three is as follows:

B.tech> B.E.>BSc

The IT companies prefer BTech candidates over B.E or BSc candidates as they have practical and industrial knowledge about the subject.

Thankyou!
