Data Science
If you carefully analyze the domains of Data Science and Machine Learning , you will realize that math and statistics form the core of these specialized streams. I would say you are better equipped to enter Data science than your peers who took up science.
The only thing which you should focus on now is building complimentary skills and certifications through colleges that hold a strong pedigree. You can compare and analyze the ones that best fit your needs. Along with learning data management, which is a great complementary skill to AI , it is essential to focus on other streams such as Deep Learning and enterprise-based AI solutions. These skills will make you a full stack skilled professional to enter the domain of AI and Data Science.
Your learnings as a commerce student with a math background would give you a head start in understanding multiple statistical algorithms which form AI solutions. To be better equipped in solving practical industry based use cases, here is a suggestive list of functions that you may focus upon, to be the best for the industry.
Big Data management and data pipeline management.
Core understanding of how ML works and the various algorithms that can be readily used based on the use cases.
Deep understanding of the domain where AI solutions are being implemented and established. Some popular areas can be Retail, Oil & Gas and Finance.
Data representation and visualization.
Managing continuous learning and data discovery platforms.
Hands-on popular tools and languages such as Jupyter notebooks, Google colab, python, R,SAAS solutions and open source libraries.
With add-on skills and learning streams, you can establish yourself as a professional in the Data Science & AI domain. As you gain actual hands-on and solve pragmatic case studies you will see your career grow exponentially to further explore multiple domain implementations and solutions.
Hi aspirant,
I would surely suggest you to go with computer science and engineering core and not with specialisation in data science because it may limit your opportunities. When you have a core subject you will be thaught all the important concepts of programing and coding so you are free to opt for any specialisations at your will and whatever suits you the most you can master that topic for better employment opportunities. Now talking about what the problem is with specialisation in in data science if you have decided that you will make a career in data analysis and research then it is absolutely ok to go for it else you would feel it as a burden because it will increase the number of your credits that's the number of subjects you need to study.
Hope it helps!!
I don't think this notion is at all valid. The employment region for the Data Science course is quite large and if you wish you can do amazing researches in advanced topics such as Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics etc. So it don't implies that being a BTech in Data Science student, you are approaching any mistake. Apart from this I don't think society is that much aware about the Data Science until and unless they are some what aware about the modern day technology and industries. So don't bother with society and just focus on your interest. If you are interested, just go for it.
You can also go for the BTech CSE specialization in Data Science, this course also have quite a good value in Industry & this course will provide you a broad background in CSE.

Hello,
Generally speaking the eligibility criteria for pursuing BSc Data Science is passed 10+2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry, mathematics as core subjects securing 50% aggregate or above depending upon the norms of the university, admission process varies as it can be based on the merit of the qualifying examination in case of Navrachana University, NSHM Knowledge Campus or there are entrance tests conducted regarding this as by Sri Sri University/AMET University/Jain University to name a few, when it comes to fee structure it varies as government colleges charge comparatively less to that of private colleges, data science is truly one of the emerging career of 21st century, its requirement is prevalent in every sector, the work opportunities can be found in research laboratories, MNCs, research companies, tech companies etc, some of the top recruiters for data science are IBM. Wipro, Oracle, Accenture, Deloitte, HCL, Amazon, Flipkart, Cognizant, Walmart, Microsoft to name a few in the job profiles of data scientist, business analyst, data analyst, data engineer, research analyst, analytics manager etc,
