According to Times of India Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of Hyderabad has introduced Bachelor of Technology Honours and minor degree programs for the students. Under the sea scheme the student will get the minimum additional credits in the range of 18 to 20 and get a degree with Honours or minor from the same or another department.

I certainly understand your concern, the thing to note here is GATE is a graduate level examination hence the qualification you need to enter is your bachelor's degree and not your postgraduate. I am assuming here that you have a 4 year B.E/B.tech or 3 year dipolma course prior to pursuing your M.tech.
