b.arch or b.design which one is best

piyush singh 30th Mar, 2022

Hello,

Hope you are doing great. As per per your query i would like to inform you that B.Arch. is a 5 year undergraduate course which is related to designing and constructions of buildings whereas B.Design is a 4 year undergraduate course which offers multiple specializations like graphic design, product design, fashion design etc.

You must have Mathematics in your 10+2 to enroll for B.Arch. whereas this is not the case for B.Design. Also major portion of the course comprises of topics from Mathematics so if you are weak in Mathematics i would recommend you to go for B.Design. Job roles after B.Design is generally designing a product, footwear etc. whereas B.Arch. graduates have to work at construction sites along with engineers.

So, if you are good in Mathematics and interested in field work you can go for B.Arch. else if you want your work to be in offices designing products you can go for B.Design.

For more details  follow the link:

how to prepare for Situation Test? help

pri111nah 26th Mar, 2022

Hi,

The thing with the situation test is that, we don't have any hard and fast rule to crack it. I feel it is mostly about your presence of mind, material handling skills and creativity.

Here are some useful tips that must works for you :-

  • Prepare a tool kit with all utilities like a geometry box, foot ruler in metal & plastic, paper knife, scissors big & small, cello tape, glue stick, fevicol, all pins, markers etc.
  • Practice handling of all types of craft materials. You could work on the following given materials by trying to practice how to cut and attach within the same material category & also across the material category.
  • Some materials to practice with are – card board, thermocol (thick & thin), glaze papers, kite papers, handmade sheet, cellophane, fabric, coloured clay, aluminium foil, aluminium sheet, sun pack, foam, straw pipe, mouldable aluminium wire, transparency sheet, cotton, rubber sheet, gift wrapping sheet, beads & sequences etc.
  • Always Work Time Bound. It is pointless to keep sitting with a single assignment for more than 2 hours as that is the time limit you have.
  • Explore the possibilities with the materials at hand.
  • Work through a contact session through an experienced and trusted mentor, following a video can only help in developing your skill and  that too for only that one model you watch being made. But a mentor nurtures and develops you into an independent thinker and explorer with heightened creative quotient, which helps you handle any question variety.

Hope this helps get a direction for maximising your 20% of your situation test contribution to your merit.  Do remember, nothing replaces a mentor, so find a good one.

Good luck.
