The absence of warning signs, safety grilles, and proper fencing around such drains is a glaring negligence on the part of the concerned departments.

I humbly urge your office to:

• Conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and take accountability for the lapse.

• Ensure immediate covering and fencing of all open stormwater drains across the city.

• Launch a monsoon safety audit of high-risk zones and fix vulnerabilities.

• Initiate an awareness campaign for citizens about safety measures during heavy rains.

We cannot afford to lose more innocent lives to administrative apathy. I hope the Corporation will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves and work toward making Mumbai a safer city for all.
