Good luck for future!!
Hello aspirant,
i hope that you are doing absolutely great.
With reference to your above mentioned query, i would like to tell you that according to the previous years cut off rank for isro and drdo, you must have a gate rank below 150 to get a interview call from these esteemed psus. For both of the psus you must be among one of the top ranked students.
And to describe further, The GATE score for shortlisting the candidates for metallurgical Stream was 700 in previous years. It's still the prediction as the cutoff ranks and marks keeps varying according to the previous year cutoff.

You can acquire internship in DRDO if you have references from an employee in DRDO or any of your faculty in the institute you are studying. There is no age limit to work as an intern in DRDO. Based on your branch in Engineering and availability of intern vacancies you can acquire a position as an intern. So you do not worry about the age if you wish to pursue Engineering. Ensure that you have decent grade throughout the course, technical skills, soft skills and communication skills. You will need at least one references in the institute you are studying and an Employee working in DRDO.
Dear aspirant !
Hope you are doing well! As far as I think isro prefer to go with mechanical engineers rather than mettalurgicals ,also they hire metallurgical alternative years once ,vacancy for metallurgical is too less might be 1 or 2 every year ,this year no chances ,hope vacancy will be come next year in 2023 ,but also other than drdo and isro ,a lot of opportunities are there in other fields .
Hope it might get idea !
Thanking you !
