Yes, you will be able to get admission in IITs after attempting either EE or EC paper. You can opt for any of the two paper. Since you are from B.Tech- EEE branch, you should attempt the same paper in GATE as well.

but both the branches are quite same placement

But electrical and electronics are more good because it covers electronics also.

You can do job in core as well as non core companies.

Engineering B.Tech or Diploma in distance mode is not recognised and therefore I will ask you to refrain from applying even if someone says so. Please dont. Its invalid as technical courses cant be taught through distance mode. So join an evening college which is better and considered for further
