I got 1831 rank in WBJEE. Will I get branches like EIE,production or power engineering in JU ? I am general caste and have homestate quota .

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 9th Aug, 2021

Hi

This is very difficult to predict which college you will get because cut off keeps changing every year depending upon a number of factors like

--------) number of students that appeared in the WBJEE exam

--------)difficulty level of the WBJEE examination

--------)Kind of marks obtained by the students in the WBJEE exam

--------) number of students from different categories

--------) seats available for different branches etc

But yes,

With your 1831 rank , considering you  from general category,

On the basis of analysis of past years wbjee cut off data , you have low chances in Jadavpur University in branches asked by you or  any branch

For example,

In 2019 , in 3rd round of wbjee,   1417 GMR rank for general category  was the closing/last rank for  Jadavpur University and it was for Architecture

You have chances in  colleges like :-

  • University Of Calcutta:-Instrumentation Engineering/Instrumentation & Electronics Engineering-2251

  • Jalpaiguri Goverment Engineering College- computer science:-4015

  • Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology, computer science:-2173

And many more

As per round 3 , 2019  cut off available at Official website :- https://admissions.nic.in/wbjeebcouns2019/wbjeebcouns2019/orcr/PrevYearORCR.aspx

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our WBJEE college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your , your gender etc the link for  WBJEE  college predictor is provided below

Is VJTI best college for Electronics engineering. Nowadays some people saying its teaching methodology has been degraded. Is it really true?

Sudeshna Dutta 17th Sep, 2021

The Electronics Branch of VJTI is the only branch in which placements are permitted with the most variety of businesses.

In the course on Electronics, students will learn about the fundamentals of electronic engineering, electrical technologies, networking, communications, computer organisation, microprocessors, control systems, and other subjects.

Despite the fact that the faculty is much less helpful and teaches significantly less. Students find time to study on their own and, in many cases, to create something.

It is the only course offered at VJTI that provides students with the chance to complete three projects over the course of the semester.

I am getting printing engineering in Jadavpur University in first round of WBJEE counselling this year. Will it upgrade in second round to power engineering?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 25th Aug, 2021

See JU is the most preferred college in westbengal. So expecting for upgradation can lead you to problems such as not getting a seat at all. Now you have to play a game of probability. This are the fields of engineering where the density of students per seat is very high so you have to face some competitions there. So its your decision, it can't be said with surety, you have to take the risks if you get a upgrade else I would say, as this year the qualifying percentage have increased in WBJEE then the competition will also increase so its better if you can get admitted in Printing technology although let me assure you that most of the students of printing engineering don't work in the core field but they move towards the CSE/IT jobs so its same kind of a option you are going to explore. Now its all about your decision.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 13th Aug, 2021

hi,

well congrats on your achievement. you have got really good institute as per your wbjee ranking. for college ranking jadavpur university considered is best for engineering and best institute in west bengal. now coming to stream and job prospect in future, computer science is more lucrative and have many opportunities in todays industry in different sectors like development, research, eCommerce etc . so if we compare between two stream I would recommend to cse over power engineering.

kalyani government engineering college has good placement records  and quality of education. the major recruiter is tcs, cognizant.
