Top private colleges are bits Pilani, thapar institute, vellore institute of technology, KIIT,LNMIIT etc.
Top government colleges are IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIEST etc.

After Btech in mechanical engineering there you have lots of scope. You can go for higher studies, jobs, research etc.. All the manufacturing plant recruit mechanical engineers . And also these branch has lots of subjects for further studies. Even many government organizations too recruit them.
