Yes definitely and that is the only rule. According to the rules anyone can use his any category rank for admission into any college. But what you cannot do is that you cannot use two categories rank simultaneously to get admitted to any college you want.

IIITs also have a certain number of seats reserved. Therefore, many categories exit in the AI quota for IIITs, like

• AI- General-CRL
• AI-OBC-NCL
• AI-SC
• AI-ST
