Dev, yes you can get NITs on the basis of previous years records and you category rank. However, there are chances that you might not get your desired seat but you can get some of the NITs such as nit patna, nit Mizoram, nit Manipur, nit Assam, nit meghalaya etc.

With 61 percentile, you can not really get the NITs, IIITs or the GFTIs, although you are eligible to appear in the JOSAA and state level counselling, there is no cut off for that. To see your options in the counselling, you can use the JEE main college
