Hello, my rank in JEE Mains is 20322 under EWS category. In which colleges can I get a seat and which branch possibly?

sheemaashraf123 10th Dec, 2021
It depends upon the JEE Main and JEE Advance cut offs, If You manage to qualify the exam by achieving the cut off, You can apply for JOSAA Counselling. It should be noted the cut off for EWS/SC/ST/FEMALES/OBC category is lower than the general category

If you manage to qualify JEE Main Cutoff, You would be eligible for JEE Advance which is the intake exam for IITs as mentioned above.

However It is usually advised to fill the choices as per the preference of colleges and departments, for example CSE in NIT Trichy is your priority followed by CSE in NIT Warangal, you can fill CSE at NIT Trichy at serial number 1 and CSE at NIT Warangal at serial number 2 and so on and so forth. However to get any NIT, you must have qualified JEE Mains and to get any IIT, you must have qualifies JEE Advanced

But the previous cut offs of colleges should be taken in consideration, it is better to research over the cut off of colleges then make a preference list of colleges and fill accordingly

For the college preferences and the courses provided by these colleges and to know which colleges participate in the JOSAA counselling, please go to the below mentioned link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-participating-institutes/amp

Being in ews category while applying for a semi gov college can I get a Gen category seat as there were no ews seats allocated last year?

Shrishty sahu 5th Nov, 2020

Dear student,

This year even there are chances that you would be allotted a general seat. Semi government colleges are given a choice to consider ews reservations while it is a compulsion for government colleges so it totally depends on the college that whether it wants to consider ews or not.

I have attended jee advanced 2020.after key verification I may have chances to get nearly 90 marks .I belongs to ews category.may I have chances to get in any IIT????

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 29th Sep, 2020

hi,

see cutoff score changes every year and depends on some of the factors like number of applicants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, students category, etc. however at this score you have really less chances to secure seat in any iits. however you may try careers360 college predictor tool to know about the probable college name,

when I online for jee main I mention my category general in that time I have no EWS certificate so I fill general but now I have EWS certificate can I upload this certificate during jossa counselling and I can mention EWS category

ANUVAB DAS 29th Sep, 2020

There is no option to change your category after applying for JEE Main. As you did not declared yourself as EWS during form fill up, the system assigned you as GENERAL. So you got only one rank and that is general category rank in your JEE Main 2021 result. As there is no rank in EWS category, it is impossible to change your category in this period. Hope you understand. Good luck.

I have qualified UGC NET in the year 2019 under EWS category. I got EWS certificate from Kerala Government. But I am married off in the year 2020 and at present I dont belong to EWS category. Is my NET valid??

theeanonymous 30th Sep, 2020

Hello Shilpa,

Mostly this situation is not going to cause you problem. If you have produced valid documents during the time when you wrote the exam ,it means that you have written the exam as an EWS candidate and you are a NET qualified candidate for lifetime as long as the documents and details you submitted at the time of your exam are genuine. Moreover, if you have scored above the clearing score of unreserved (gen) category then you sure have nothing to worry. However, to be a 100 percent sure about this issue I suggest you to contact the UGC officials by either phone or emailing them at www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in  (https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/) or ugcnetonline.in@gmail.com

Hope this helps
