EBC is the certificate given for the backward classes and  EWS certificate is for general category they have different formats .

EBC certificate is valid only for the state level exam if you are applying for national level exam you should use either OBC NCL or EWS Certificate

Check the last date till which this certificate is applicable. If it's applicable then it's okay. But at the time of counselling which is after sometime this will not be applicable.
