Can I take direct admission for MBA in FMS college without any entrance exam?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 29th Aug, 2019
Dear Arindam, the answer is No. None of the IIMs have direct admissions. Infact, FMS Delhi usually has the highest cut offs for its 200 seat intake. The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:

Eligibility Criteria

Group Discussion and Personal Interview

Final Selection

The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

QA: 30%

DILR: 30%

VARC: 40%

An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:

Personal Interview: 15%

CAT score: 60%

Group Discussion: 10%

Extempore: 5%

10th marks: 5%

12th marks: 5%

An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview. Now with all this process, the cut offs is an important issue to be discussed. Previously FMS used to consider overall CAT score for shortlisting. However since the past 2 years, FMS has been giving sectional preference and weightage. VARC occupies the top position with 40% weightage. A Candidate with atleast 97 sectional weightage will be shortlisted at FMS. So it is important to focus more on VARC section while not leaving other sections.
Higher cut offs are due to the intensity of the competition at FMS, Delhi. Their placements speak for themselves. FMS, Delhi concluded 2018 placemebts with an average placement package of 22.60 Lakhs for Women Candidates. Out of a batch of 223 Students, 215 participated in Placements and all of them have been placed there by leaving FMS, Delhi at the top in 100% Placement Companies. Though 133 companies participated in Hiring process, 83 companies could make the recruitment offers.

what score in cat will take me to fms, my 10th 12th and graduation scores are 8.3 ,80%and 55%respectively and i have no work exe also.

sagar tatipamula 22nd Aug, 2019
Dear student

Your academic is good except the graduation score.

The FMS cutoff is used to shortlist candidates based on CAT percentile for group discussion and personal interview before admission. Generally, FMS cut off is around 97+ percentile in CAT. If you managed to get 97+ percentile in Cat than you might get call from FMS for GD and PI.

At the time of interview, the candidate's academics, work experience, personality and overall suitability is put to test. All these parameters carry due weightage, apart from the score in the CAT. So it is very important to remember that clearing the FMS Cut Off is not sufficient. The final merit list is based on the weightages of the following components of the selection process. They are mentioned as follows:

CAT Score- 60%
Class X Marks- 5%
Class XII Marks- 5%
Personal Interview- 15%
Group Discussion- 10%
Extempore- 5 %

Good luck.

I have 85% in 10th and 75.4 12th. What is the minimum percentile I have to get call from from IIM A B C AND FMS DELHI?

kartikjain2548 Student Expert 22nd Aug, 2019

Hello,

You have average marks in your previous classes. But since you have not mentioned your graduation marks i am answering on the basis of your 10th & 12th marks.

If you are from general category then you need to score almost 99+ percentile in CAT. And this also does not guarantee a call because many factors such as graduation marks, work experience, etc. are counted before the call is made.

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 13th Aug, 2019
Hello Aspirant,

Getting into FMS delhi for mba is not that easy. Also as per the information provided by you, your score in 10th, 12th and graduation are fine. So you can get through the college if you manage to get a percentile above 95. Since you are obc candidate therefore if you secure 95+ percentile and perform well in gdpi then you have a good chance of getting into FMS Delhi.

All the best

Sir i am an agriculture graduate i want to prepare for cat and want admission at fms delhi sir please help in starting preparation

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 8th Aug, 2019
Dear Amit, CAT is an online examination of 3 hours duration. The questions in the exam will be of MCQ and TITA type totaling 100 questions. MCQ are multiple choice questions, for which candidates get multiple answer choices. Whereas,TITA is Type In the Answer which means you need to write the answer in the text box that is provided. The Verbal Ability section and Data interpretation-Logical Reasoning section have 24 MCQ questions each. Quantitative Ability has 25 MCQ questions totalling up to 75 questions. The Type in the Answer questions are 25 in number.

Each Question has 3 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark. However Type in the Answer questions are exempted from Negative Marking.

First things first, know the syllabus. And go through the previous papers to analyse and prepare a comprehensive plan and set priorities according to the importance of different topics across sections.

Customise your own study plan based on your strengths and weaknesses. Gauge your preparation from time to time by taking mock tests. Solve questions to check your levels of preparation but not to set any targets. Remember, its ok to have cheat days and relax. But make sure you have a plan and stick to it for the next few months because even Rome wasnt built in a day.
