As per my knowledge there are some entries for BTech or engineering graduate holders ine Indian army. But also BTech in food technology students can enter into some research fields by Indian government. There is a Institute named defence food research laboratory which is situated at Mysore by drdo . Which is basically conduct research to apply the technology on vast area of food Science. To face various kinds of challenges of Indian army. Otherwise you also can go for or some examinations like

  • Technical graduate course entry where you can join after your engineering course and you will be shortlisted according to your marks till 6th semester followed by the main interview. Your age should be between 21 to 26 for this job role.
  • SSC technical entry all of the procedure is same for that and as well as the categories and criteria.

UG diploma ranges from 1 year to 3 year depending on the course, college and University. It mainly focuses on providing detailed information about food industry and nutrition.

In order to get admission in this course one must have scored atleast 55% agreegate in class 12th.

Can a BSc Home science student apply for MSc food technology in DUET ?

As per the University of Delhi, Du don't offers the course of MSc Food Technology instead it offers the course of MSc Food & Nutrition for which the eligible courses are provided below:

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Home Science / B.Sc. (Pass) in Home Science / B.Sc (Hons.) in Food Technology: after (10+2)/ PGDDPHN (1 yr), from Delhi University or any other University whose Examination is recognized by the University of Delhi as equivalent and fulfill other conditions of eligibility. Should have passed Nutritional Biochemistry and any two subjects in the following areas: Food & Nutrition / Nutrition through the life cycle / Public Nutrition / Food Science and Processing / Diet therapy / Microbiology/ Nutrition for Adults and Elderly/ Nutrition for Children and Adolescents.

The eligibility marks for the MSc Food & Nutrition is provided below:

55% or above marks in aggregate in Home Science or Food Technology or equivalent grade points.

So yeah! You are eligible for the MSc Food & Nutrition course.

Can a currently 2 year Bsc Home science student appear for GATE exam 2023 for food technology ?

Nope! For the GATE examination the 3 year or 4 years BSc Students are eligible to sit for the examination. Essentially after the BSc, GATE don't offer that much of a opportunity. I would recommend you to go for the other university entrances and complete your MSc and then you can apply (after MSc or during MSc as the GATE score is valid for 2 years) through GATE for PhD and other studies.

To become food technologist you need to have a bachelor's degree in science with a major in food science and technology or nutrition from any institute which has either of these courses. After having passed their graduation and having some of the positions, they can go for the further master's degree.

Btech Food Technology:

  • A 4 year course with knowledge on food engineering and food science.
  • Admission through merit basis or through entrance examination depending on the college / university.
  • You must have PCM With a 50% aggregate in order to be eligible for this course.
  • Total fee for the course is around 3lpa.
  • You may pursue this course from IIT Kharagpur.
