see public sector undertaking vacancy generally release to hire graduate engineers and management trainee position. based on previous years analysis there is less of vacancy for gate physics domain. however based on gate score you can apply for m.tech or m.s or phd programmes. to get call letter from psu your gate score should be above 80+ out of 100.

As per current year i.e. 2020 GATE cutoff for Physics paper :-
1. General category:- 37.2
2. OBC-NCL :- 33.4
3. ST/SC/PwD :- 24.8
if you score above the cutoff they you will qualify gate exam. GATE cutoff for MTech in Physics is not available. to get assured for admission , you have to score above 90 percentile in GATE which will make you eligible for majority of the IIT campus.
Based on previous year data, around 15k students apply for GATE physics and 75-80% of total applied strength appears the exam.

see there is very less number of psus which recruits physics candidates by gate score, however if you are interested for phd course you may apply for iits or nits by gate score. some of the research organization like bhaba atomic research center(BARC), ISRO , DRDO like organizations hires msc candidates for various profiles. so you may check their official website from time to time.
