is there good placement in institute of genetic engineering

Sudarshan kumar 11th Feb, 2020

Hi Ayushman,

You can do either B.Sc in genetic engineering or B.Tech in Genetic Engineering.

Top colleges which offers various courses in genetic engineering:

  • Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
  • Indian Institute of Science, (IISc), Bangalore.
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
  • All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

When we talk about placement then there are very less job offers for Genetic engineering.A genetic engineer works with the genetic material or DNA of orgnisms to change or modify some component.  Genetic Engineering graduates get the opportunity to work in medical and pharmaceutical Industries, Agriculture Industries, Research.

The average package you will get is 20k-35k per month.

Hope this will help, please feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

what is genetic engineering and its prospects

Somrita Bhattacharya 11th Jan, 2020

Hello Kunal

Genetic Engineering is a relatively new branch of engineering that has come up in the last decade or so. Genetic Engineering as the name suggests deals with building or modification of human genome or an organism’s genome to change its biological and chemical properties to meet desired results. In common terms, genetic engineering can be defined as a laboratory science that deals with change or modification of DNA ((Deoxy Ribo Nucleic Acid) of living organisms to advance services in healthcare, medicine and agricultural industries. The subject was initially considered part of biotechnology, but with recent developments and diversification, Genetic Engineering has emerged as its own distinct subject of study with sub-domains and streams to follow.

Scopes in genetic engineering

  • Medical industries
  • Pharmaceutical industries
  • Research and development departments
  • Agricultural sector
  • Genetic engineering firms
  • Chemical companies

why do we need reporter gene,in genetic engineering please tell?

Khushi 12th Dec, 2019

hello

we use reporter gene to check whether our gene of interest is functioning properly or not ,look for example if you are inserting your gene of interest in any organism and you want to check whether the recombinant is expressing it's trait or not you can link a reporter gene with you gene of interest if reporter gene gets expressed obviously your gene of interest would also get expressed, reporter gene can have some unique properties like fluroluminance.

Hello aspirant I'm here for helping you.
If your concern is about any university which has affiliated colleges then after selection you definitely can change your college which is nearby to your home if you have not submitted the fees to any other college.
But if your concern is about your taged college then
You can change college near to your home after selection if you have not submitted the fee to mahatma Gandhi mission jawaharlal Nehru engineering college.
I hope you got it.

I had completed mbbs and I want to become a genetic engineer. Is it better to study genetic engineering in India or abroad?

athira_1490858591 Student Expert 24th Aug, 2019

Hi,

I would suggest you to look for the top colleges in the world like Harvard for a fruitful genetic engineering course. In India, the scope of quality research and jobs connected to this field is quite less. Moreover, it is always and enriching experience to study abroad be it any course. Exposure to research projects, work experience, more access to better resources/faculty would surely add up as a bonus to your career ambition.

All the best.
