No, it is not compulsory to choose subjects of your graduation only. You can choose any subject of your choice in the Mains exam. There are 25 subjects available from which you can choose. if there is geography subject in hsc science instead of maths from maharashtra hsc board then in Mumbai university admission form maths Marks left blank? as there is note " science students must fill maths mark, otherwise form get rejected ", how to fill form?
