Here are the steps to become Geologist or Research Associate for Geology :
Complete 10+2 examination and then pursue graduation in geology,earth sciences or related field.
After graduation candidate can go for higher studies like M.Sc. and P.h.D in geology as most of the job position requires masters qualification.
You can go for jobs in private sector as geologist on the basis of bachelor's degree in geology.
To be geologist in governmental sector you can appear for combined geo-scientist exam and work as Geologist ,Geophysicist.

Geologist is a scientist involved in exploration and research of the history of the Earth.
To become Geologist after 10+2 you can follow the given steps :
1. You can opt in any one of the Bachelor's degree course from following courses -
B.Sc in Geology , Earth sciences or  B.Sc in environmental sciences
B.Sc (Honours) in Geology
Bachelor of Arts in Geology, Earth sciences, environmental sciences.

If you are  interested for further studies you can pursue
Masters in Science(M.Sc) in Geology and Applied Geology
M.Sc. (Hons) in Geology
Master of Technology in Geology and Applied Geology.

hey,

to become a geologist you should have good communication skills, critical-thinking skills , outdoor skills , problem skills and physical stamina , you are needed to fulfill the academic qualification too that is mentioned below

1. you must hold a bachelors degree in geology, earth sciences or a related scientific field

2. after that pursue masters in the same field

3. for higher education candidate must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D in geology)

looking to the common syllabus of B.S.c geology there is no such maths to be studied, this course more involve study of solid earth, rocks , other solid structures.

Actually most of geologist who are paid highest salary in India are form petroleum and mineral resources sectors. The prices of geological commodities exerts a heavy influence on salaries.

According to the lastest update,  in government area a true geologist can earn 9.5 lakh per year.

the job opportunities for a geologist are getting multilplied on each passing day , being a geologist you can work both in domestic and in international arena as well , the top firms hiring geologists are geological survey of india (GSI) ,central ground water board (CGWB) , oil and natural gas commission (ONGC) , Hindustan zinc Ltd, minerals and metals trading companies (MMTC), coal india , mineral exploration Ltd, indian bureau of mines (IBM) and many more , the salary of a geologist lies in between Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per annum but as you gain experience your salary will be increasing.
