There isn't much difference in both the degree but as you observes one is a science degree and another is a liberal arts theory. So there's a difference in approach to the subject..in science basically aimed at research while arts one is more focused on already existing theories.

You can ask the college directly about the correspondence course for mtech but i would suggest you to purse the degree regularly as regular degree leads to more experience and more exposure
