How is GIM HCM course in terms of ROI ? How is scope of healthcare management?

Aman Yadav 7th Apr, 2019

Greetings!

Hope you're doing great.

A few years back, Healthcare management wasn't an obvious choice among many aspirants due to ambiguity revolves around placement opportunities. However things are changing drastically,  a lot of students are taking part in Healthcare Management courses, especially those from Medical background. Today, doctors need to brush up their managerial skill if they want to run an organisation of their own. For example, MAX Hospital, Fortis, Dr Reddy, Dr Batra are some of the most established names in Healthcare management industry.

The Healthcare management industry is booming exponentially and job opportunities are rapidly increasing in the market. By 2022, it's been estimated that there will be $133 billion industry as per IBEF reports. So, I don't see any point if you're planning to pursue Healthcare management as your future career option. The HCM graduates are handsomely paid and at par with any students from other streams of MBA/PGDM.

Whenever we talk about the top 50 business school in India, Goa Institute of Management(GIM) has a sure shot position in that list. It's a decent b-school with good Return on Investment. As far as the Post graduation Diploma course (PGDM) course is concerned it has good teaching faculty. The case study based discussion is one of the USPs of GIT. HCM is one of the most preferred choices among aspirants and placements are par with the other PGDM students. The faculty members are highly trained and have enormous industrial experience. The college calls guest lecturer to the campus on a regular basis.

Eligibility Criteria and Cutoffs: A candidate who has scored around 80-85 percentile in CAT/XAT/CMAT can expect an interview call. However, for HCM courses, profile-based shortlisting is prefered and the candidate with a good profile and decent competitive exam score can expect the call from GIM.

ROI: In terms of the return of investment, the course fee for HCM is close to 12 lacs. And the average placement bracket of the batch is around 11-12 lacs and highest placement offered last year was 24 lacs. HCM seems to have competitive ROI compare to other management courses.

Hope, you'll find this useful. Do reach out in the comment section below for more detail.

All the best! Cheers!

IBS Hyderabad, BIMTech Noida and GIM (BDA) [reason not a single batch of GIM-BDA has passed yet] ROI????

Aman Yadav 14th Mar, 2019

Greetings Aashish!

Hope you're doing great.

Let's straightly come to the point. If you look at the fees and placement ratio of the all the three colleges i.e, IBS Hyderabad, BIMTECH Noida and, GIM(BDA) it's quite clear that IBS Hyderabad has a little edge over other two. Although, the fees are almost in the same bracket for all the three colleges which is in between 10-15 lacs for two years PGDM/MBA course.

IBS Hyderabad is a reputed institute and popular among management schools. It comes under category B group of b-school in India. The ROI is quite bearable and those who pass out from this institute generally get the placement of around 8-10 lacs(based on actual records). However, if you're looking out for brand and legacy then BIMTECH Noida, no doubts, wins the crown. The infrastructure at BIMTECH is par excellence and having situated near the National Expo centre, it has an edge over international exposure.

Goa Institute of Management(Big Data Analytics) program is a new full residential program. Although, GIM is a old institute which provide PGDM/MBA courses. Similar to SRCC(GBO) which is a new global business operation program but, the students are considered as II class when it comes to SRCC brand value. The choice is up to you.

If I'm given choice then will place priority as follows: IBS Hyderabad>BIMTECH Noida>GIM(BDA)

Check out this link for more details into the ranking of the mentioned institute: https://bschool.careers360.com/colleges/ranking

Hope this is help. Do reach out in the comment section for more details. :)

Cheers!

Hi can someone give me tips for GIm hcm interview please

Fiza Student Expert 7th Mar, 2019

Hey Pranav!

I have known people who have given GIM interviews in the last week. They basically focus on your academics if you are a fresher and on your work experience otherwise. Brush up on the current trends and changes in healthcare management field. Be in touch with the news and current affairs too. They grill quite a lot on that.

Good Luck.

Can I get a call from KJbsomaiya, GIM,Great lakes or IFMR based on my xat 79.15 percentile?

Shravan Hari 17th Feb, 2019

Hi Yash, generally cutoff is not fixed for any college and it varies every year based on various factors like number of seats available, number of test takers, difficulty levels of the exams etc. However i will provide you an idea based on the previous years,

1) KJ Somaiya expects around 85 percentile and chances are slim

2) GIM expects around 80 percentile and there is some good chances here

3) Great Lakes is tough because they expect above 90 percentile

4) IMFR has very high chances as their cutoff remain around 70-75 percentile

Hope this helps..All the best

GIM asked for xat and cmat ids while filling the form but it didnt asked for cats registration number, how will it consider cat score?

Shubhee Verma 17th Feb, 2019
Hey Aspirant ,
Goa Institute of Management never asks scores from candidate. The scores are received by them through IIMs, XLRIs and AICTE
So you need not to worry they will receive your scores itself. They will get your CAT scores through IIMs.
