Im pursuing B.E. from Mechatronics Engineering branch, right now Im in my final year and I want to give GATE exam from Computer or IT department, is it possible? and if I give exam from computer department then will I get admission in computer related courses or jobs in IT companies?

see you can give gate exam on any paper apart from your graduation branch streams. candidates are eligible to apply for any of the gate paper , irrespective of their stream in engineering. so you may appear in gate exam from Computer science stream.  now coming to college admission

Hello,

There is no upper age limit to appear for GATE. A candidate can appear for GATE any number of times. Candidates who have passed Candidates graduation in engineering/technology in relevant discipline from a recognized board are eligible to apply for GATE.

As you have mentioned your pursuing B.sc in chemistry I am assuming that you want to give iit jam in chemistry paper ,

see since you have already completed your m.sc you are eligible to appear in gate exam. gate score is considered for admission to masters, phd course in India or abroad. iits offers phd admission based on gate score.
