No GATE exam is for once every year. the exam is organised by various IITs and IISC and is primarily made for admissions into PG courses in IITs and various other institutes and for getting Jobs in PSUs across the country.

see there is few colleges which offers m.arch course or master of planning course, for iits, nits you need to have gate score around 700 if you are from general category to become shortlisted. some of the other post graduate entrance test is, tancet, karnataka pgcet, IUET, etc exams
