Dear Shruthi , In gate , aptitude section is having weightage of 15 marks(10 for reasoning and 5 for english). These are considered as bonus marks. But many people take it lightly or leave it for last minute.

I think that power and oil sector is great for mechanical engineers.
Psu like IOCL , ONGC, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL etc are great for a mechanical engineer.
Apart from other perks they pay handsomely to their employees not to mention the working timing which is great when compared

Well, You may be aware of the ongoing crisis in BSNL. The government has offered VRS to its existing employees. Govt has proposed for MTNL & BSNL merger too. So right now we can not expect a recruitment from their end. But definitely by the end of 2020
