hostels
Hi, hope you’re well!
Here’s a comparison between Hostel and Day Scholar Life:
Hostel life can be a very thriving experience. Many students almost the same age and studying in the same class or year, live together in a hostel. As a result, students with similar personalities cultivate a strong sense of belonging and foster a spirit of cooperation and togetherness. In times of need, they assist one another too.
Hostel life gives a student a sense of responsibility as well as independence. Students also experience life full of opportunities and learnings. Hostel Life will teach you many other things like teamwork, helping your hostel mates, a sense of unity and adjustment among other hostellers.
It goes without saying that life at home cannot be compared to life in a hostel; the two are polar opposites. Hostel life is full of fun, enjoyment, and youthfulness. Social events are conducted in the hostel, and students are invited to attend. However, at home, one must live as other members of the family do, and elders are present to influence the activities of youngsters.
At home, one must follow the family's schedule, which involves sleeping, eating, and leisure time. One cannot even build one's own study schedule. It is also necessary to consider the convenience of others. Thus, students feel, the biggest advantage of living in a hostel is independence.
If a person wants to study alone, there are separate study rooms or reading rooms available where they can study in peace and consult fellow hostellers if they have any questions. By studying together, they can memorize and recall their subjects easily. Furthermore, even non-studious students are compelled to learn when they see others doing
At home, students are occupied for the majority of the time by some of the other domestic duties, which significantly conflict with their studies.
At Hostel, students are free to perform activities whenever they want and as per their willingness. Students in the hostel learn to become responsible for their own belongings. This is not something they do at home. If you really want to know about real life then you should pass from hostel life. It can be said that only a hostel is the place where an all-round development of personality is possible.
Advantages of Hostel Life:
In a hostel, there are plenty of ways to have fun while studying. One is constantly in contact with young people one's age and can engage in a variety of activities other than learning. One can make friends with one's hostel roommates, who have varied interests and abilities. One can select his friends based on his own preferences and interests, and he or she can spend quality time with them even after college.
Hostel life is enhanced by mutual discussions of their favourite film actors and actresses, lengthy critiques of the most recent film they have seen, and story-telling. The hostel life is envied by all because of the well-organized games and activities, Sunday specials and eating contests, and day-to-day merriment.
However other advantages include:
A sense of freedom, confidence and self-reliance grows in a hosteller because he is not cared for by his parents.
Individual learns the art of nurturing relationships and behaviour by cooperating with mates.
Living in a hostel, which is normally located on campus, cuts down on travel time and costs.
One has the opportunity to form bonds with classmates who can become lifelong friends.
If a student is having difficulty with a topic, he or she can seek assistance from other hostellers.
Fun, leisure, and other recreational opportunities are all available.
Hostels have the best study environment. Although students enjoy the hostel life in various ways, they also work extremely hard when it is time to study
Hostel life fosters healthy competition as well as mutual cooperation among students
Disadvantage of Hostel Life:
Hostel life, despite its many benefits, has its disadvantages. Students who are attending a hostel for the first time will encounter an entirely different environment. The hostel's independence can lead them astray at times. Their parents are not there to keep an eye on them. This might lead them down a path of evil. They start smoking, gambling, and even drinking. A frequent trip to the movies becomes a habit.
Some students go out and spend a lot of money, even borrowing money from friends. They have a propensity to develop bad habits and divert their categories under the influence of bad company if they do not receive enough financial support from their parents. They do things they can't do at home while living away from their parents.
If they see an affluent co-hosteller spending extra money and enjoying life, they can develop an inferiority complex, which will affect their character and personality. Furthermore, students who live in hostels are deprived of the care and affection of their loved ones .
Other disadvantages may include:
Ragging can be experienced from seniors
Bad company can influence a student's decision to smoke, use drugs, or drink.
In the college setting, which is full of youth and fun, it can be difficult to focus on studies at times.
Additional costs and increases in spending due to hostel fees, food, and other factors.
Students experience a sense of loneliness due to a lack of care and support that only parents can provide.
Living conditions are significantly less pleasant than at home.
Many students have difficulty digesting the standard food served at the mess.
Parents send their wards to the hostel to learn, but they spend their time there having fun
Late nights will make it difficult to focus in class the next day.
Living in a hostel will give you a lot of exposure, opportunities for personal development, and lifelong memories. However, when deciding whether to live in a hostel or as a day scholar, you must weigh your personal needs, financial constraints (if any), hostel amenities, quality of life, travel time, and other factors.
Hope this information helps!
All the best!
