IBS Business School, Mumbai
Hi,
Well i wouldnt suggest you joining either of the college because both have pretty bad ROI, with an investment of around 10lakhs and if getting placed then adjusting with 5 to 6 Lakhs. With this said ITM Mumbai is better than IBS Mumbai because it was established before IBS and also has smaller Batch size.
Both have good and similar finance companies coming on campus so not a major difference there. Somehow IBS brand is more renowned because of the word of mouth so if you have to tell anyone where are studying MBA then it feel more comfortable to tell you are studying in IBS. With all this said ranking wise ITM mumbai comes above IBS Mumbai, but make your choice based on your reasonsof why do you want to do an MBA.
Hello Harsh,
I am afraid you might have missed IBS Mumbai by about 0.41 marks or so. IBS Mumbai generally accepts students with 65 or above. This is common. I too have missed colleges by such point difference. This is why you were given Ahmedabad instead of Mumbai through IBSAT.
Hope this helps.
HI,
With that percentile you can get admission in avg good colg ,and yes you can go for IBS MUMBAI
Some of the other colleges you can try are as follows:
Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust's Thakur Institute of Management Studies & Research, MumbaiRizvi Institute of Management Studies & Research, MumbaiVivekanand Education Society's Institute of Management Studies & Research, MumbaiShree C. E. Society's Indira Institute of Management, PuneAlkesh Dinesh Modi Institute for Financial & Management Studies, MumbaiFor more details kindly check the link belowHttps://bschool.careers360.com/articles/mah-cet-cutoff
Good luck
See IBS mumbai Is Fine institute in Mumbai..But the reality is that It wll give you PGPM degree which is not AICTE approved so you can not apply further By that degree(like Phd,Foreign)..& 2nd thing is that If you want MBA degee then Ymthey will charge 1-1.5 lac extra & They will give MBA degree from their other institute..
3rd Thing is that The batch size is too big in this institute so there is huge competition in placement...Average placement is around 4-5 lac..
Soo I would like to suggest you that if you are maharastra domicile Then You will get Good college in Mumbai & Pune with lower fees And With MMS degree which is good option..
& If you are not Maharastra Domicile then IBS is good option for you..
Hello Yahya,
Most of the other top colleges in business management have a higher cut off that the percentile you mentioned (based on 2018 trends). Since you did not mention a specific college I cannot give you a more specific answer. But most of the top colleges that accept students through CET have a higher cut off than you mentioned. However, there are a few other colleges you can apply to other than IBS Mumbai. Colleges that will accept your percentile include :
1. XIMR, mumbai
2. Vivekananda Education Society's Institute of Management studies and Research
3. Don Bosco Institute of Technology
4. Maharashtra Institute of Technology
And also quite a few more.
You can check out expected 2019 cut offs and earlier year cut offs (2017) of various colleges here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/bschool.careers360.com/articles/mah-cet-cutoff/amp
Hi Pruthibi,
Both the colleges are equally good. However, In comparison with both the colleges IBS pune and IBS Mumbai, I would suggest you to go for IBS MUMBAI. As the college is good in terms of ROI, Placement and faculty. college offers pgpm certification course for 2 years for specializations in Finance, Marketing, Operations and Human Resource Development.
All the good companies like HDFC, Kotak Mahindra, Kpmg, Amazon, Dellote and many more good companies come for placements with minimum average package of 6.5 lac to 7 lac.
I hope this will help you. Wish you good luck.
Hi Prachi,
Well, if you are in just for the degree then yea, why not! Half the batch in IBS Mumbai comes here for fun, just for the degree. Trust me you don't want to have that kind of company if you are pursuing a professional course.
There are things an MBA college teaches, and IBS Mumbai does none of them.
There are these good for nothing clubs, which organize events, and nothing else. The learning atmosphere is zero, all students care about is grades, and the case study method of learning is a good way to go, but when you have half disinterested students, only for the degree, you can never have a learning experience.
At the end of 2 years, students can’t even make a decent CV for themselves. I did make a mistake of joining, but i did pretty well for myself. Campus placements are bleak (do check for the latest ones from a current student)
The college was supposedly good 5–6 years back as the batch size was small, there were good students, but now the strength has gone up to 600–700. So naturally the entire scenario changed, and during my time 2012–2014, there were close to 700 odd students, barely 350 got placed, and out of those 350 the highest package was probably 8–10LPA and only 10–12 students got through.
My advice, don’t go there an MBA is tough, and it teaches you a lot, IBS Mumbai teaches nothing, I barely struggled during my MBA it was too easy to be true, I see friends pursuing MBA from other colleges and I see the amount of hard work they put in and practical knowledge they gain by taking part in competitions/classes/case studies etc.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask me,
Thank you

I would like to say that, in any institute or college you may study, because every institutes have their own way of teaching, but if you want to know exactly that which is better, then you should ask the individuals who is or who was studying in that institute. You should focus on yourself and your study.
Thanks for query on this platform, you may visit again for further queries.
All the best.
Hello Anjum,
If you are looking for a career in Finance, I would recommend IBS Mumbai, with respect to the placements, IBS Mumbai has a lot of companies coming in, offering roles in the field of finance.
Having said this, Pune is also not a bad option, Finance companies do come down, but comparatively less though. You really have to be in your A game to land a good finance company with the desired pay package.
Looking at it from the cost of living, I would say look at the big picture, yes Mumbai is an expensive place to stay, but think about your career in the long run.
