I think you should try to opt mechanical engineering from IIT BHU if you want to be branch specific as mechanical engineering is better branch than metallurgy . But if you want to be college specific then you should go for IIT Kharagpur as it is one of

Hello,

The eligibility criteria for IIT JAM is that a candidate must have passed bachelor's with 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale. This is for candidates belonging to general category. For candidates belonging to SC/ST category it is 50% aggregate or 5.0 CGPA on a 10
