There are two specialization in IIT Dhanbad, Structural Engineering and Environmental Science and Engineering.

Average Package  Structural Engineering is around 7-9 Lacks with L&T being major recruiter. You can also opt for Phd after your Mtech.

CIL is a major recruiter in Environmental Eng.

It depends upon your Stream. If you are from Physics or Chemistry Department then your course is bit more research-oriented and hence you can prefer going for a Ph.D. in some foreign university.

Placement is good in Structural engineering.Almost 18 students got job out of 20 in 2017–18.
This year zero placement in transportation engineering but it was good last year
Zero placement in water resource,geotech and earth systen science engineering.
