See as far as JEE advanced is concerned, a good rank can also be expected in 50percent score in both the papers. Which means approximately 180 to 190 marks combined.
But this largely depends on the paper pattern and how much is the toughness.

Yes, you can give GATE exam after studying MSC in Physics. The basic eligibility criteria for gate exam is completion or final semester of Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent. Sorry for your inconvenience but he might be referring to IIITs,yes you can get CSE/ECE in new IIITs and have good chance in North eastern NITs(but other branches)
