Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal
Hi!
Scoring a mere percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) does not give you a guarantee to get an interview call from a top IIM. The institutes offering the MBA/ PGP in India, especially the IIMs have a very complex admission process . These institutes give consideration to a lot of factors while giving an interview call to candidates. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. If you even score somewhere around 98 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm call from top IIMs (specially the top 6 IIMs). However, if you belong to the reserved category, then there are good chances of receiving an interview call from top IIMs at 98 percentile. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the criteria for admission to the IIMs.
You can predict your CAT percentile by using the CAT Percentile Predictor 2024 .
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the most important component to get admission to any of the top MBA college. In order to get admission to business schools, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. However, scoring a mere percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as many of the business schools have a very complex admission process.
MBA colleges give consideration to a lot of factors while giving an interview call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Having a one-year of work experience will get you some points allotted for work experience. However, your first priority should be to clear the overall and sectional percentile if mentioned by the college.
If you even score somewhere around 99 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm Interview call. Therefore, CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission.
The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI/ GDPI process and during your final selection. Therefore, you might have good chance to get admission in B-Schools subject to the condition that you must perform well in the CAT followed by the WATPI/ GDPI process.
Some of the best MBA colleges you can expect based on your CAT percentile will be IIMs, IITs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, DSE, TISS, SPJIMR, etc.

Hii There,
To be eligible for the CAT 2024 exam, applicants need to meet the following criteria:
They should have successfully completed a bachelor's degree from a recognized university, with a minimum aggregate of 50 percent (or an equivalent CGPA). However, candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PWD/DA categories should have a minimum aggregate of 45 percent.
Candidates who are in their final year of a bachelor's degree program or are awaiting their final results are also eligible to appear for the CAT 2024 exam.
I hope this answers your question.
Thanks

Hello Aspirant
Yes, you are eligible to take the CAT (Common Admission Test) even if you have one semester with less than 50% in your engineering degree.
CAT eligibility typically requires a minimum aggregate percentage in your undergraduate degree. While a consistent performance throughout your degree is generally preferred, a single semester with a lower score is not necessarily a barrier.
