how is iisc mmgt degree which is best iim Bangalore or iisc

ojaswiyolo Student Expert 20th Jul, 2020

Hey Rajesh

Your question can be explained in simple words- IISc is basically for science and research whereas IIM is for management. If you want to make a career in science you should go for iisc whereas if you are looking for a white collar job you should go for iim. ALthough iisc provides for M.Management but still it is not the first choice for some. I will give you the information I have from those who have studied in IISc-  There is 100% placement in management studies with average ctc 16 lakh per annum.  Professors are generally  PhD. holders from IITs or IIMs with the fees being  around 8 times lower than the iims.

how to get direct seat in iim Bangalore?(management seat)

Mayank Chowdhary 5th Jul, 2020

No the only source to get into IIM Bangalore is through CAT entrance examination only. After giving the CAT entrance exam, you can get the seat through your merit score. Seats through management quota are also available but for that also you need to pass the CAT entrance examination.

Refer to the sites below for more detailed information..

Hello Aspirant,

Its obviously IIM Bangalore. Because the IIM A,B,C has the high reputation for MBA and these three colleges have the first three NIRF Ranking 2020. I would suggest you to prepare for CAT and get through the seat for IIM Bangalore. The average salary is about 15 to 20 LPA.

Hi, This is Koushik. I am a MBA aspirant. But I want to do MBA in IIM Bangalore only, that is my dream. I scored in 82.08%, 85.5%,6.7 CGPA in SSLC, PUC & in B.com respectively. I belong to a general category. So how much should I score inorder to get seat in IIM Bangalore only. please suggest me.

Shivang Dubey 29th Jun, 2020

Hi Koushik

Predicting your selection IIM Bangalore on the basis of your academics only will not be sufficient. The selection in IIM depends on following factors:

  • 10-12 Academics
  • Graduation Score
  • CAT Score
  • Interview/WAT
  • Extracurriculars
  • Work Experience

One needs to have a good profile overall and to be on a safe side you must score 99+ percentile to compensate overall and perform well in the Interview. Also Work Experience fetches more points in the selection process.

Hi, Did I get a chance in IIMs? I got 7.5CGPA in 10th Std, I got 95% in 12th std, 6.5 CGPA in B.tech. How much should I score in CAT exam ?

ANUJA 28th Jun, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

To get into top IIMs like A,B,C the student should score above 99 percentile for confirm call from IIM. For reserved category more than 85-90 percentile is safe score. Your academics are quite good. But only CAT percentile will not let you fulfill your dream to do MBA from top colleges. You should also focus on WAT, GD and PI from now.

Hope this helps

Hi Family, Do I stand a chance of getting into IIM Bangalore? with 76.80% in 10th, 60.83% in 12th & 7.60 CGPA in B.E., Category- OBC, No work experience But I have done 2 major Internships in reputed Companies in HAL & JetAvi Engineering pvt lmt. How much should CAT score be? Thanks in advance:)

Sk Student Expert 27th Jun, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

One thing that seeps through is your confidence in yourself, which is a very good sign. Your marks may not impress and it is definitely not a true reflection of a student’s aptitude. Having said that the CAT examination is a test of a student aptitude and there is every possibility that you can do well provided you have a flare to excel in their testing pattern. The test consists of three sections:

  • Verbal Ability/Reading/Comprehension

  • Data interpretation & Logical Reasoning

  • Quantitative Ability

We strongly suggest that you do a few mock tests on their website https://nta.ac.in/ which is under the student’s section. Once you understand the pattern then you will be able to access on how to prepare for the examination.  The standard is extremely high and even if you are OBC you need to in the above 96 percentile to stand a good chance.  The Logical Reasoning is very simple, there are around 3300 seats with 200,000 writing the exam, hence only  1.7% gets in and by correlation 100 – 2% = 98 Percentile. No work experience need at this stage. So now you know what needs to be done!

Good Luck
