Hi All, I want to apply for IIMs and I have a query regarding EWS certificate. I had applied for EWS but I got it in my regional format (marathi). The college I am applying is not accepting this format. And I am confused of how to apply the format that they want. Does that format has any name ? TIA

Akram Khan 28th Jan, 2020

Hi,

Many institution give the format of the document required in their information brochure or at the official site. So visit the official site of CAT exam. There in the certificate section you will find the format of all the certificate required.

From there download the  EWS certificate. And after proper attestation submit it.

Hope it helps.

Hi iam having dyslexia, and government hospital certificate for learning disability, can I get pwd (person with disabilities) quota in iim for mba

Harshita Gupta 18th Jan, 2020
Hey,

IIM has given the criteria for PwD under the " Rights of person with Disabilities Act 2006" and according to it, a person must not have disabilities less than 40% , which means disability should be 40% affective.
The categories of disabilities considered under the Act are as follows:
  • Blindness and low vision.
  • Deaf and hard of hearing.
  • locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy.
  • autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness.
And few others. So according to the last point mentioned above, you are eligible and might get admission in pwd category if you meet the requirements of scores and cut-off and if you fulfill the criteria.

hope this helps!

Got 95% in 10th, 77.5% IN 12th, 7.72 CGPA(till 6th sem) , ****CAT 2019 Percentile : 82.26 ****[ VARC : 88.25 , DILR : 75.76 , QA: 72.56 ] , Category : Engg. Male [ EWS ] , can I expect call from NIT Trichy or IITs for MBA/PGDP for Academic Year 2020-22 ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 8th Jan, 2020

With 82.26% you can be shortlisted at NIT Trichy going by the previous years' cut offs. IITs are going to be tough because IIT Madras had a cut off of 85.11% in 2019 and IIT Kharaghpur also had a cut off of 85% in 2019. With 82.26%, you miss these 2 IITs by a narrow margin. But you have pretty fair chances at NIT Trichy. Few other Colleges that you may have a shot at are IRM Anand, NIT Durgapur, NIAEM Hyderabad, IIT Dhanbad, etc. You can also check our Pathfinder to check the list of all the Colleges that you may have a shot at: https://bschool.careers360.com/pathfinder/cat

Got 95% in 10th, 77.5% IN 12th, 7.72 CGPA(till 6th sem) , ****CAT 2019 Percentile : 82.26 ****[ VARC : 88.25 , DILR : 75.76 , QA: 72.56 ] can I expect call from IIMs (even baby IIMs) and if not what good college should I opt for MBA/PGDP for Academic Year 2020-22 ?

manisha.gupta 6th Jan, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

As a General category with 82.26 percentile, There are very less chance to get a call from any IIMs as for Baby IIMs you also require at least 90 percentile. The other colleges you can have the chance to get a call from

XIME Bangalore

MANAGE Hyderabad

Goa Institute of Management

LIBA Chennai

IFMR Chennai

University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh etc.

But as you know that CAT marks are not the only parameter involved in the selection procedure. After CAT exam every college in which you apply prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience etc. whose weight age varies for all different colleges. After the round of interview again a merit list is prepared which includes marks of your interview, GD and WSAT which along with CAT marks generally have the highest weightage.

You can also use CAT Pathfinder tool to know your further admission chances.

Do the new and baby IIMs provide dual specialization? What is the criteria? Please explain.

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 31st Dec, 2019

Hello,

They provide dual degree program to some selected students. For IIM calcutta:- the process is selection through CAT/GMAT score. Then going through other screening tests. If you qualify then  you will get an admission. The process will be same for all the IIMs but may be the cutoff mark will vary with respect to campus location.

New IIMs are worth joining as said by the students who joined and they had a good experience there and they adventured many new things. Fee structure and hostel facilities are also good.

For more details you can check the dual degree program in IIM webpage. For IIM calcutta :- https://www.iimcal.ac.in/programs/pgp/double-degree-program/double-degree-program

Hope it helps!

I am an average student (male) with a score of 81% in 10th, 76% in 12th and 62% in my engineering. With 1 year internship and 1 year industrial experience (core mechanical), is there any chance of getting an IIM call (new or baby IIMs) with a score of around 85-90 percentile in CAT? (category-obc)?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 23rd Dec, 2019
Hello,

Your past academics are just above average but you have an advantage of internship and job experience but still getting in IIM ABC  will be difficult because apart from good percentile must also need to have a good academics and if you want to get in new or baby IIMs still you need to get a percentile above 95 at least.Competieon is tough these days so you need raise some marks in order to get into a good B School.

Good Luck

Hey,my CAT percentile is 76 I am from NC OBC my work experience is 2 years & btech background. Will I get call from IIM Amritsar or bodhagaya

Akshay Kadam 16th Jan, 2018

It's a little difficult for you to get calls from both IIM Amritsar and IIM Bodhgaya. You need to have a superb profile along with your 76 percentile if you actually want to get a call for the second round of WSAT and interview. And honestly, even if you get a call for second round then you would need to perform out of the box in order to secure your seat in the college. In the second round, you will have a better opportunity because WSAT and Interview marks have highest weightage along with CAT marks in the final list.

All the best!!

What was cat cutoff for IIM Bodh Gaya for OBC-NC.

Monika Shruti Gupta 4th Jan, 2018
IIM Bodh Gaya is a mentee Institute of IIM Calcutta and its cutoff has slightly decreased in the previous year over the past records.
Its cutoff was 90 percentile for general category (overall percentile) for CAT 2017 as compared to 95 percentile in CAT 2016.
However, in CAT 2017 there was a change observed in the sectional cutoffs wherein they increased.
Here is a comprehensive view of sectional as well as overall percentile cutoffs :
* VA-RC : >80 percentile for general and NC-OBC category, >55 percentile for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
*DI-LR : >80 percentile for GENERAL and NC-OBC category,  > 50 percentile for SC/ST/PWD
*QA: > 80 percentile for general and NC-OBC category,  50+ percentile for ST category,  60+ for SC category and 50+ for PWD category.
* Overall cutoff : 90+ percentile for general category, 80+ for NC-OBC category,  65+ for ST category,  75+ for SC category and 65+ for PWD category.
Based on these cutoffs, calls for further rounds of GD-PI-WAT are floated and the final selection is based upon the following criteria :
*CAT score
*Personal Interview
*Writing Ability Test
*Class 12th marks
* graduation marks
*gender diversity
*academic diversity
*work experience.
Wish you all the best!!
