Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam
Krishna, to be honest with you, all the IIMs even the new ones require an overall percentage of 95 and above for General Category. So that rules you off of the IIMs list. You have a narrow chance at IIT Madras. In 2019, 85.11 was the cut off percentile. You also can have a shot at IIT Kharaghpur. This IIT had a cut off percentile at 85% in 2019, You can also try BITS Pilani because in the last couple of years, their cut off percentile was 60%. IIM Nagpur has lesser overall percentile for CAT but again the minimal cut off itself is 95 and above. But IIT Madras and IIT Kharaghpur are your best shots if you are particular about studying in IITs or IIMs. A student with lesser cut off than yours got a call from IIM Rohtak but we do not have your academic details to let you know your chances with IIM Rohtak. Because we do not have your sectional cut offs and your Academic details, we cannot help you with more options but you can check out Path finder for more options that you might have: https://bschool.careers360.com/pathfinder/cat

Only those Candidates shortlisted in this phase will be called in for Personal Interview which happens in Phase 2.During Phase 2 all confirmed candidates will receive an email with a link to the webpage where in they are required to confirm their interest in pursuing their Candidature at IIM-V. Those Candidates who have confirmed their interest, will be considered for Phase 2 and the shortlist will be prepared. In this phase, the Candidate's percentage scores in the 10th and 12th board exams are adjusted by dividing each score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. The database of 10th and 12th scores of all CAT applicants of past 2 years is used for identifying the 90th percentile. The final scores obtained are used for the Bachelor's degree and professional degree if any.
The Work experience is calculated using the below formula:
Score for Work Experience = 8x/36 (if 0 < x < 36)
= 8 (if x >= 36)
Where x is the months of work experience upto July.
For those candidates who do not have work experience, the weightage will be as follows:
CAT=40
10th board=12
12th board=10
Bachelors=20 Diversity=10 {Gender (Female & transgender)/Non-engineer}
Work Experience=8
In CAT 40 points, 10 points are for QA, DILR takes 16 points and VRC takes 14 points. CAT scores, 10th board, 12th board, Bachelor's, Diversity, Work experience or Professional course details are used to prepare a pre PI rank list based on which a second shortlist of Candidates will be prepared. This list is used for assessment through PI and WAT. And the final score is calculated on the basis of:
PI Score (weight=25)
WAT Score (weight=5)
CAT (weight=25)
10th board (weight=5)
12th board (weight=5)
Bachelors (weight=10)
Diversity {Gender (Female & transgender)/Non-engineer} (weight=20)
Weighted Work Experience (weight=5)
The final offer of admission is strictly made on the basis of ranks in each Category on the final aggregate score. IIM-V follows a comprehensive multi criteria process to be able to identify many Candidates who have an excellent academic record and work experience. If there is anyone who had to be in the first shortlist but missed the high score of CAT, such Candidates effectively replace Candidates who have only high CAT score but poor academic records and work experience. IIM-V prioritizes consistent and high performance in past academics.
Now IIM V offers financial aid to students in need of financial assistance. There are quite a few scholarships as well which are merit cum need based scholarships like Ministry of Tribal Affairs Scholarship, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Scholarship, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Persons with Disabilities. The summer and final placements are dealt by a dedicated Career Development Services office of IIM V and is guided by IIM B.
