Ive a score of 490 in GATE BT. I belong to OBC NCL category. Do I have a chance to get into any IITs or IISC? Can you suggest some colleges?

ruchika.chauhan Expert 20th Mar, 2019

Hello Sachin

According to your scores and based on the previous year cutoff, you have chances of admission in M.Tech Technology and Development in IIT Bombay, M.Tech Textile Chemical Processing, M.Tech Fibre Science and Technology in IIT Delhi.

Use the GATE College Predictor tool to check the other courses and colleges where you have chances of admission

I got 75 percentile in JEE main can I get iisc to do b.tech

Kamal Kant 20th Mar, 2019

Hey Aspirant, You may have been misguided as Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore do not have B.tech course for the students.

Courses available in IISC, Bangalore are:

1. B.Sc

2. B.S

3. M.tech/M.E.

4. MBA

5. PhD

6. M.Des

At this Percentile, you are just clearing the cutoff and thus you can't get admission in IISc at this percentile.

Hope you will understand.

Is there any career in medical beyond mbbs which provides good salary and knowledge????

Hrishikesh Das 19th Mar, 2019

See Medicine is a fast field but MBBS is just a tiny part in it. One can do Bachelors in any of medical fields like pharmacology, nutrition, neuroscience and even management on public health policy, hospital adminstration.

Coming to knowledge and good salary, each field has its own set of knowledge to be acquired which is fast and cannot be comprehended in own life. For salary, even MBBS graduates have very less 30k to 40k salary after 5.5 years of training. Money comes with age and experience irrespective of which field you do.

I would recommend you to choose the path you feel passionate for, knowledge and money will come with it if you be good in it.

Can I get admission into IISC ug course with 270 in JEE mains ?

Shivam Gautam 19th Mar, 2019
Dear Nitin

Nitin  as you aware that as of now the JEE is not going to declare any type of marks to any of the candidate's. The admission to every candidate's in any of the Government Institution including the IISc will totally depends upon the rank you scored in the JEE mains and that will be totally depends upon your obtained percentile, so with having the score of 270 doesn't pay you but yaah if you are having the rank of 270 in JEE mains then yaah buddy you will be in one of the UG course at IISc. So just focus on scoring the top percentile in the JEE mains such that based upon the cuttoff in the IISc you can be Able to take the branch.

All the best

My Gate rank is 736 category general in chemical engineering can I get Mtech research in iisc

APOORVA SOPHIA XALXO 18th Mar, 2019

Hello Lakshmi,

Your rank in GATE is 736. IISC is the generally the first preference of the students who wish to pursue M.Tech and so mostly the rank holders from 1 to 100 fill up the seats.

There are other factors also like the number of seats, number of people who apply to this institution, level of the GATE paper, etc which should be considered but if you see the trends of the previous years you don't have a good chance at IISC.

You can try IIT BOMBAY or IIT DELHI which are also good institutions for M.Tech and at this score you may get admission there.

All the best.
