GATE exam is conducted annually by IITs for admissions to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and other colleges that take admission through GATE. It is also used for recruitment by PSUs.
As for your question, you should be able to get admission in material science course in IIT

As you have not mentioned the Category so i mentioning for all. For General category it was around 493 GATE score and for OBC it was around 430.
For SC it was around 240 GATE score and for ST, all applicants.

It is hard to say that you can get an IIT or not, as it depends on your AIR. If you have an AIR less than 600, then there is a chance you might get into IIT.
The GATE marks that you score in that three hour exam.
