Hi
There's no percentile in jee advanced. There's only rank.
This is a bit difficult to predict the rank required in to get a seat as cut off keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like
----------) number of students that appeared in the jee advanced exam,
----------) kind of marks obtained by them ,
----------) toughness level of the examination ,
----------) number of seats available for the branch you want etc.
But yes,
When we go through previous year trend then ,
In round 6 of josaa counselling, 2020 , 5700 rank in jee advanced for general category closing rank for gender neutral in IIT bhu for mechanical engineering
You can check the same at
https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
So, for mechanical in iit bhu, you need to get at least around 5700 rank in jee advanced.
To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to, your home state, your gender etc, the link for jee college predictor is provided below

Hi aspirant,
IIT BHU is one of top institution in our country offering engineering programs through JEE . Currently it is ranked 11th in the NIRF engineering rankings and guarantees almost hundred percent placements for CSE and IT graduates.
The average package for CSE at the college is between 20-25 lacs and the highest package offered was around 2.25 Crores in year 2016 by Google.
Hope it helps!!
Hi Rinku! Yes, IIT Varanasi (BHU) offers good placement opportunities especially to student of CS in the companies such as HP, Paytm, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Google, Microsoft , Facebook and many others with highest salary package 2 crores per annum till now and lowest salary package of 5 LPA. But students of MSc (CS) are least preferred by the recruiting companies as first preference is given to the students of B.Tech CSE.
So, yes placements are there for MSc students but less than compared to BTech students.
Hope I answered your query, thankyou!
Hi Rajesh,
The answer to your question depends on the factors based on which you're judging the colleges. To start with, both of the institutes are amongst the best engineering institutes of India, and in fact, some of the surveys ranked NIT Trichy higher than IIT BHU, but that doesn't mean IIT BHU is less good.
IIT BHU is one of the oldest IITs and has state of the art labs and libraries, Sports and Research facilities, and excellent placements. Not to forget, the bright peer group you will be surrounded by. And the most importantly the ‘IIT Tag’ that will make you most happy. Keeping in mind all of the above factors, IIT BHU will provide an unmatched experience for sure.
Now NIT Trichy won’t give you an IIT tag, but surely it would provide you with the best infrastructure and placement offers. Also, NIT Trichy has lower fees when compared to IIT BHU.
In the end, it all boils down to the fact what you really want... a branch of your choice or a college tag.
Choose wisely and all the best.
