i have scored 58% in class 10th, 74% in 12th,and 80% in graduation. i am non-engineer, general, b.com honors. and having 24 months of experience and if i scored 98% in cat and i have a extracurricular activity ,two-time kvs national player , did there is any chance for IIT Bombay, and IIM Lucknow

Jishan Mondal 30th Oct, 2025

Hello, Getting shortlisted for IIM Lucknow or IIT Bombay (SJMSOM) with your profile is challenging, primarily due to your 58% in Class 10th, which significantly impacts the composite score calculation for both institutes. While your 98 percentile CAT score is excellent, and your 24 months of work experience, B.Com (Hons) background (providing academic diversity, especially for IIM-L), and KVS National player status are valuable additions, top IIMs and IITs heavily weigh consistent academic performance. Your 74% in 12th is also on the lower side. IIM Lucknow places substantial weight on 10th and 12th marks, making a call quite difficult despite your strengths. You likely have a relatively better, though still uncertain, chance at IIT Bombay, as their weighting might be slightly less penalizing for past academics compared to IIM-L, and your high CAT score is a major factor. However, the low 10th score remains a significant hurdle for both prestigious institutions.

I hope you found this information helpful and for study related queries you can ask in careers360 app, Have a great day and!

I have scored 58% in Class 10, 74% in Class 12, and 80% in graduation. I am a non-engineer, a general-category fresher (B.Com), and if I scored 98 percentile in CAT. Did there is any chance for IIT Bombay Shailesh j Mehta School of management

Aahana Rawat 26th Oct, 2025

Hey,

You already have a strong profile with the score of 58% in Class 10, 74% in Class 12, and 80% in graduation, but admission in IIT Bombay, Shailesh J Mehta School of Management is quite competitive, especially if you are in general category because the cutoff for general goes to 98.5-99%. Your CAT percentage is impressive but your 10th marks might reduce your score during the shortlisting process. If you perform well in Written Ability Test and Personal Interview, and present your commerce background you still stand a fair chance. But it would also be wise if you have some backups like MDI Gurugram, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi, where your marks and profile will fit well in their selection range.

My kcet rank is 30915 suggest colleges

Nikita shahi 22nd Jul, 2025

Hi

A KCET rank of 30,915 can still offer you a good range of options, especially under the state quota and depending on your category . While top government colleges like UVCE or RVCE may be slightly out of reach at this rank, there are still several good engineering colleges that accept ranks around this range for various branches, especially in core and emerging areas. Some of the colleges you might get into include Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, JSSATE, or Acharya Institute of Technology, in branches like Mechanical, Civil, EEE, or newer programs like AI & ML in less competitive colleges. Counseling plays a huge role here, and choice filling should be done smartly by analyzing previous year cutoff trends.

You can Check last year’s KCET cutoff data round-wise link below:

I wanted to ask if I should persue btech in aerospace engineering from ajeenkya dy patil university in pune. If the placements and internships are good? Also if it is not a good option can ypu suggest a better option in Maharashtra except iit bombay

Manav 26th Jun, 2025

Ajeenkya DY Patil University in Pune offers a BTech in Aerospace Engineering that includes core subjects such as aircraft structures, propulsion systems, aerodynamics, and space technology. The course is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure through labs and workshops.

The university claims to offer internship opportunities as early as the first year. Students are expected to work on real-world industry projects and attend technical sessions, but the actual quality and depth of these internships may vary depending on partnerships and student performance.

In terms of placements, ADYPU states that it has over 140 recruiting companies visiting for engineering branches. The average package for engineering students ranges between 4 point 5 to 6 point 5 lakh per annum. The highest package reported is around 19 to 21 lakh per annum. However, it is important to note that these figures are overall and not specific to aerospace engineering.

For aerospace specifically, placement opportunities may be limited unless you are exceptionally skilled or have completed strong internships. Core aerospace companies like ISRO or DRDO generally prefer candidates from top-tier institutes or those with competitive research backgrounds.

If your goal is strong placement and industry exposure in aerospace, ADYPU is not among the top recommended colleges. While it is improving, it still lacks the national reputation and alumni network that many recruiters look for in this field.

Better options for aerospace engineering in Maharashtra, excluding IIT Bombay, include College of Engineering Pune, MIT World Peace University Pune, and Vishwakarma Institute of Technology. These colleges have better industry ties and established academic records.

In conclusion, ADYPU can be considered if you are looking for an affordable private university with a developing infrastructure and are willing to build your own career path. However, for better placements and training, colleges like COEP or MIT WPU offer stronger value and recognition.

Female ews what rank should i get to obtain a seat in iit Bombay cse

Prachi Kumari 14th Jun, 2025

Hello,

For a female candidate from EWS category, to get Computer Science (CSE) in IIT Bombay, you should aim for an All India Rank (AIR) under 150–200 in JEE Advanced.

Sometimes the closing rank can vary slightly each year, but staying within this range gives you a good chance.

Hope it helps !

sir i want to pursue m tech in mit but i also want to pursue b tech in iit bombay i got 98.67 in jee mains 2025(i will get EEE/ECE in nit surathkal) but i will not get iit should i take a drop year to prepare for jee advance 2026?

gopi 31st May, 2025

Hello Bhuvan,

This is a personal decision based on a few important components:

  1. Goal Clarity: If IIT Bombay is your dream school and you feel you can prepare for the next iteration of JEE Advanced, dropping a year to study for JEE Advanced is a reasonable option. A dedicated and focused drop year has helped many students achieve great scores on JEE Advanced, and the top ranks.
  2. Current Opportunity: NIT Surathkal is one of the top NITs with opportunities for excellent placements, research opportunities, and the opportunity for interactions with top companies - especially for ECE/EEE. After that, with good academics, you can potentially earn your way into top M.Tech programs like MIT, Stanford, or IITs via GATE or GRE.
  3. Risk vs Reward: Dropping a year has a risk component: mental and academic risk. Think about whether you can handle that level of pressure and if your performance at JEE Advanced can improve with one more year of preparation.
  4. Ambition for MIT M.Tech: For M.Tech, you don't need an IIT degree to get into MIT. Strong research and projects, GRE scores, and thoughtful and compelling YES at SOP matter more than an IIT degree. Many students from top NITs get into MIT and other institutions throughout the world.
