To get admission in iits for m. tech or ms, is it necessary to have a strong c. v or gate marks is the thing that only matters??

HI, Mostly it is the GATE marks that matter and not the other aspects in major.

So you will have to focus on scoring maximum marks to get the desired branch.

Hi, The best plan is to work smartly and that means to focus on the important topics mainly.
So below are some important topics to consider:
Physics: Mechanics and Electrodynamics are the two most important topics but one should also devote time to Heat, Thermodynamics, Optics and Modern Physics.

hello sir I have 59.9% in btech till 7th sem in open category..but after 8th sem my degree is more than 60%..that can effect admsn in iit??

HI, It shall not affect much because generally you require 60-65 % criteria. So this ratio you are getting now. But again you should not aim at this in fact you should try to score as much as you can.
Rest also depends upon your performance in GATE.
