According to my experience ,as i had dropped a year after my 12th class.If your are clear with your goals and completely dedicated towards studies and are willing to spend a lot of time for self study then only go for a year drop.

your rank is in average category. hoever you may not get top ranked iits, but you may secure a seat in new iits like iit roorkee, iit jodhpur, iit patna, iit bhubaneshar etc.
